Interview with Simon Hansford of Attenda at IP Expo
This year’s IP Expo at Earls Court in London has a real buzz about it. I dropped in yesterday and managed to get a quick interview with Simon Hansford, founder of Attenda Ltd, a company offering cloud-based application managed services. We’ve seen Simon on many a 3Par promotional video (and one of the videos was used in the HP/3Par presentation in Barcelona), so after seeing him on video it was good to finally meet face to face.
After the video interview I quizzed Simon on how his business works. Clearly offering outsourced infrastructure only works if you can be more efficient and have lower costs than the company you’re providing services to. Simon indicated that this is where their IP (or “secret sauce” in his words) comes in. By providing a higher quality of service management, Attenda can meet the service level agreements their customers expect. This IP allows quicker and better root cause analysis than relying on the native tools provided by the hardware vendors products used by Attenda and obviously this is the value they are providing to their customers. The video link is below; apologies for the orange tint on everything (and some shaky camera work). This was recorded on my iPhone 4 as my Flip was full.
