Food: Aroma Spice – Sundon Village
Last week we took a trip to what is fast becoming our favourite local Indian restaurant; Aroma Spice in Sundon Village. Based in a converted pub, the restaurant has been around for some time, but we’ve only recently discovered it. Locally “Gourmet Nights” are usually Tuesday and Wednesday, where starter, main, rice/bread and side dish are all included for a fixed price. Aroma Spice do rice and bread, not that we should make that the
sole reason for a visit. The fact is, the food is great. Tonight we sampled chicken tikka, chicken shashlik bhuna, chicken tikka balti and garlic chicken as main course dishes, all individually spiced and uniquely flavoured.
I love Indian food and especially like the sharing nature of eating. Despite choosing individually, there’s still the option to sample everything and get a wide variety of tastes in a single meal.
There’s a ongoing trend to refurbishing pubs as restaurants, especially in smaller villages, so there’s no shortage of local places for me to try. Look out for other selections in the near future, as we build up the repertoire!
